Mongolian Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene and Health Minister S.Enkhbold have visited the National Centre for Communicative Diseases to observe the preparations for the COVID-19 vaccination rollout programme, due to start next week.
PM L.Oyun-Erdene confirmed that the government plans to vaccinate 60 percent of the 3.3 million Mongolian population. Therefore, the country has prepared freezers with three different temperature systems for storing the vaccines. The Pfizer vaccine, for example, needs to be stored at an extremely low temperature; so Mongolia has bought two special freezers. The country now has five freezers with a capacity of 388 litres each.
L.Oyun-Erdene said that he would take the first jab of the vaccine in the country in order “to be example for the population.“
