The registration for the General Entrance Exam (GEE) for the 2020-2021 academic year started today (10 February) and will last until 6:00 pm on 15 April. Approximately 3,200 students are expected to take the GEE. Mongolian education officials have announced that they would test face recognition technology during the GEE; the proposed face-scan would enable students who had lost their documents to be admitted to take the exam.
Under the Mongolian Constitution, the government must provide twelve years of free general education. At the end of their 12th year, students are required to take the General Entrance Exam if they wish to enter a university. While students choose their exams depending on the area of study of their choice, since 2013, it has become mandatory for every student to take a Mongolian language exam.
