City Mayor donates 5 million MNT for child’s liver transplant surgery

The National Team on Liver Transplants operating at the State First Clinical Hospital is to perform liver transplant surgery, for the first time to a young boy with the help of medical specialists from the National Center for Maternal and Child Health in Mongolia. The National Team on Liver Transplants have previously successfully completed the liver transplant surgery to patients.

Parents and the family of the four-year old boy, Delgersaikhan Tumurchuluun, are fund-raising the 70 million MNT that is needed for the surgery. The boy`s liver replant surgery is scheduled to be performed on February 22nd.  The boy`s father will be his donor.

Mayor of Ulaanbaatar City, E.Bat-Uul has donated 5 million MNT from the City Mayor`s Fund to the boy who has been diagnosed with liver calcification. The National Team on Liver Transplants will perform the surgery along with medical specialists Korea’s Asan Medical Center. The medical specialists of Asan Medical Center will arrive in Ulaanbaatar on February 20th.

The first liver transplant surgery in Mongolia was carried out in 2011. Over the past years Mongolian and Korean medical specialists have carried out this complicated surgery on 11 patients.
