
The head of MPP, according to the new rules, must nominate candidates for the role of General Secretary. M.Enkhbold the newly elected head of MPP suggested J.Sukhbaatar, the current Secretary General of the party, and J.Munkhbat, the publisher of “Unen” newspaper, to take the position.
Other names that were suggested included the former advisor to the Ambassador, B.Enkhmandakh, former Secretary General G.Zandanshatar. However, G.Zandanshatar pulled out of the election. D.Tsogtbaatar, the former Deputy Minister of Environment and Tourism had also announced his intention be a candidate for the position but did not go ahead with the election.
The main contest was held between the two candidates J.Sukhbaatar and J.Munkhbat.
Changes to the party rule were approved at the Assembly of the MPP. According to the new changes to the rule, the Conference meeting of the party should consist of 310 members while in the meantime the membership of the Executive Committee should be 21 and the Monitoring Committee up to 15.
For the 310 seats of the Conference meeting of MPP over 400 members suggested their own names. The list of the newly elected members of the Conference meeting of MPP has not yet been announced.
