In Mongolia there are not enough pre-school places for children; as a result, many miss out on vital early childhood education. In this situation, the ‘ger’ kindergarten may be the best solution. The kindergarten is located in a traditional Mongolian ger, with a thick quilted lining and a carpet on the floor. Each ger is fully equipped with toys, learning materials and furniture. The Mongolian parliament approved the law of child care service and, as a result, the ger kindergartens begun operation more than year ago. In total, 25% of the 45 thousand children who could not attend a conventional kindergarten are now participating in the ‘ger’ kindergarten project. A total of 1305 individuals have been employed since the ger kindergarten projects began.
In January, a total of 5275 children were attending the 818 ger kindergartens. Currently the police and other bodies are conducting an examination to check that safety standards conform to the required standards. The safety audit began on 3rd of April and will finish on 31st of May.
