An official ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the USA took place at the Foreign Ministry on 27th of January at 09.00. U.S. Ambassador Jennifer Zimdahl Galt and Ts.Munkh-Orgil, Foreign Minister of Mongolia opened the event, during which they both spoke about the history of relations between the two countries.
Diplomatic relations date back to the great period of detente, during the Reagan Administration. In 1987, a memorandum of understanding was signed by U.S. Secretary of State George P. Shultz and the Mongolian Ambassador to the United Nations G. Nyamdoo in the Treaty Room at the United States Department of State in Washington D.C.
