The XXXI Olympic starts with women football competition today (4th of August) in Rio de Janiero, Brazil – but for Mongolian athletes the Olympic competition begins tomorrow.

The 3rd Northeast Asian Mayors Forum begins at the Tuushin hotel today (4th of August). The first Forum, held in 2014 in Ulaanbaatar, was initiated by the UB city mayor.

At a meeting of the Mongolian Cabinet yesterday (3rd of August), the new staff limits of the Ulaanbaatar city administration was approved. Previously, there used to be six deputy mayors – this had now been reduced to four.

Earlier today (3rd August), first session of the Mongolian State Great Khural closed.

Entertainment mogul Simon Cowell’s show Mongolia’s Got Talent achieved the country’s highest ever television ratings with 70% of the audience share following its launch last year. According to ”The Mirror” (UK),  ’Simon is super proud of the Mongolian show and the fact Got Talent is now seen on more or less every corner of Earth.’

The III International Buddhist Women’s Conference begins today (August 1st) at the Gandantegchilen Monastry in Ulaanbaatar. More than 300 women from 15 country are participating in this event.

In the election, which took place on 29th June, the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) won 63 seats in the 76-seat Great Khural (Parliament). At a meeting of the State Great Khural, which assembled on July 29, the majority of the new members of parliament backed the nominations by MPP for the offices of the four remaining ministers.

A total of 28 officers of the Mongolian National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) are to join the United Nations peacekeeping force in South Sudan.

Mongolia is scheduled to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. So the state flag of Mongolia, with the national Soyombo symbol, has been raised in Rio for the XXXI Olympics. The flag-raising ceremony was held on 31st of July.
