Sumya opens a new page in Mongolian judo

The XXXI Summer Olympics started in Rio de Janiero, Brazil on 5th of August. On the third day, Mongolian judoka D.Sumya won a silver medal in the women’s 57 kg category becoming the first Olympic medalist of Mongolian women’s judoka as well as first Mongolian silver medal at Rio-2016.

Earthquake hits Uvs province

A shallow magnitude earthquake struck 58 km west of the Naranbulag soum in the western Mongolian province of Uvs on Sunday (7th of August). According to the governor of Naranbulag, there are no reports of significant damage and citizens did not report feeling anything.

Mongolian judokas at Rio Olympics

Mongolian athletes  are competing at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August.This is  Mongolia’s 13th  appearance at the Games, with the exception of the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, because of its partial support in support of the Soviet boycott.

Transit transportation to increase trade volume

Mongolia, China, and Russia, will begin a road transportation trial from 18th to 24th of August. It is the first transit transportation undertaking between the three countries. Transportation tests will be carried out on the 2200 km route from the China’s Port of Tianjin, via Ulaanbaatar to the Russian city of Ulan-Ude. The route consists of 900 km road in China, 1050 km in Mongolia and 240 km in Russia.

Mongolia cancels open registry for Pyongyang ships

As the international community has increased its pressure on Pyongyang for its nuclear and missile provocations, Mongolia was reported to have revoked the right for North Korean ships to operate under its flag. The Mongolian government cancelled contracts with 14 North Korean ships to operate under its flag of convenience, a system whereby foreign vessels can register under a third country to skirt stringent regulations imposed on their home country, the Voice of America reported on Wednesday.

Large-scale dismissal of state secretaries

On Thursday 4th August, the Mongolian Parliament also known as the State Great Khural approved laws about the structure of the cabinet and also approved the dismissal of some state secretaries of the reformed ministries today. Those dismissed are:
