On Saturday (28th of January), thousands of Mongolians demonstrated in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar, calling for the government to take action on air pollution. Protesters, some wearing face masks and holding black balloons, gathered as temperatures fell to -22C.

Belarus is ready to cooperate with Mongolia in the field of advanced technologies in the production and processing of agricultural products, Belarusian Ambassador to the country Stanislav Chepurnov said in an interview with the Mongolia News newspaper.

The Mongolian Democratic Party leadership election took place on 29th of January. The clear majority winner was S.Erdene. The counting of votes  continued through the night and only this morning, was the election commission able to announce the winner.

Mongolia’s first ever skew rolling mill has opened at the Darkhan Metallurgical Plant (DMP). It will help to halt the USD 60 million currency out flow from Mongolia. The plant is the result of a range of projects initiated by the previous Democratic Party led parliament to increase export production and replace imports.

Over recent days, the temperature has been much milder in Mongolia. Today (Friday 27th January), it was ’only’ -13 deg C in the capital Ulaanbaatar.

Mongolian peacekeepers have received the honour of being awarded with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Medal for taking part in Operation ‘Decisive Support’ in Afghanistan.

American cello rock band ‘Break of Reality’ in collaboration with the Mongolian State Morin Khuur Ensemble will perform at the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

Today, (26th of January) at the ‘Naiman Sharga’ currency exchange the Mongolian tugrik stood at MNT 2460 against the US dollar. The tugrik has risen by MNT22 against the US dollar from MNT2482 over the last two days.
