“Hold your dog!”, is the traditional greeting when approaching a Mongolian ger – it is also a practical request, because the Bankhar, as the dog of the nomads is called, is a fierce defender of the livestock.

Embassy staff register for Ulaanbaatar Marathon

The ‘Ulaanbaatar Marathon’, which is an annual international competition, will take place on 20th of May, coinciding with ‘Car-free Day’. A total of 30 thousand people including embassy staff from 17 countries and their families have registered to participate in the marathon. Furthermore runners from Japan, Kenya and South Korea have also been invited.

A delegation of five parliamentarians and seven senior government officials from Mongolia spent three days at the George C. Marshall European Centre for Security Studies discussing their roles and responsibilities in a democratic society, from 9th to 11th May.

Mongolia seeks to join ASEAN

Mongolia and Turkey have expressed interest in joining the Association of Southeast Nations (ASEAN) and their leaders have asked Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte to pave the way for their entry into the regional group.
