Today, (2nd of October), the State Great Khural (parliament) of Mongolia commenced its autumn plenary session with President Kh.Battulga in attendance. In his speech at the opening ceremony, the president urged parliament to form the new cabinet immediately and to begin working.

Today, 2nd October, is a day on which S.Zorig, one of the leaders of the Mongolian Democratic Revolution and a notable politician is remembered. It was on this day, 19 years ago, that S.Zorig, the then Minister of Infrastructure, was murdered.

South Korea’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Mongolia, Mr. U Sung, in an interview to ‘Zuunii medee’ newspaper, said: ‘South Korea will consider a visa-free agreement with Mongolia if the numbers of Mongolian illegal residents decreases’.

The Mongolian Ministry of Environment and Tourism is to host an NDC Partnership Forum in Ulaanbaatar on 3rd and 4th of October. The Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) were one of the key outputs of the Paris Climate Change Agreement. The event is being co-organized with the NDC Partnership Support Unit.

Mongolia & China Expo 2017, has been held in Hohhot, the capital of the Chinese Province of Inner Mongolia from 26th of September to 2nd of October. Whilst very successful in many respects, the Expo has proved a disaster for some Mongolian companies.

To mark World Heart Day, which took place on the 29th of September, an event entitled ‘Let’s share energy’ was held  on Ulaanbaatar’s Sukhbaatar square. The event was co-organised by the Ministry of Health, Khaan Bank, the Mongolian National University

Trade agreements and gold medals for national dancers were among the good news generated from the Mongolia & China Expo 2017, which has been held in Hohhot, the capital of the Chinese Province of Inner Mongolia.

The Modern Nomads restaurant chain has opened a new branch on the first floor of the Solo Mall, located in Ulaanbaatar’s Songinokhairkhan district. The chain became known to locals and foreigners for its use of modern food technology and the ability to prepare authentic and high-quality traditional Mongolian food.

According to the Mongolian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACA), a total of 29 Mongolian citizens and 35 companies hold offshore accounts in foreign countries, 23 of them are civil servants or their relatives,.

The Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) group in parliament held a regular meeting on 29th September, during which then discussed the appointment of the new prime minister and the state budget bill. The full contingent of MPP members of the State Great Khural (parlaiment) attended the meeting in which they backed the proposed appointment of U.Khurelsukh as PM.
