Dr Shin Young-soo awarded ‘Friendship’ medal

Mongolian President Kh.Battulga issued decree to award Dr Shin Young-soo, Regional Director for the Western Pacific of the World Health Organisation with the ‘Friendship’ medal for his contribution to the Mongolian health sector. Z.Enkhbold, the President’s Chief of Staff presented the medal to Dr Shin Young-soo earlier today (25th of September).

Myanmar learns from Mongolia’s experience in mining

A forum for exchanging mining experience between Myanmar and Mongolia was held at the Best Western Hotel in Ulaanbaatar on 26th of September. The event is being organised as a part of the “Initiative of Transparency on Mining Exploration”. A total of 10 delegates from Myanmar have come to Mongolia to participate in the forum.

After the drought: Mongolia’s measures for winter

Hay from natural pastures is by far the most important source of winter feed for Mongolia. This year, however, many pastures represent a sad scene after a very serious drought. As winter approaches, the country has suspended all hay and fodder exports following the drought in which as much as a third of its farmland was seriously hit.

Mongolian teachers again on strike

Today (26th of September) Mongolian teachers enter the second day of their strike in which they are demanding that their monthly salaried be raised to MNT 1.6 million. This time, 80 percent of schools and kindergartens are closed for a day.

Mongolia’s stock market soars with coal trade renaissance

The Mongolia Stock Exchange Top 20 Index has soared more than 45 percent since the start of the year to highs not seen since March 2012. Total capitalisation of the market, meanwhile, for the first time surpassed the 2 trillion tugrik ($812.35 million) mark on Monday.
