Mongolia’s journey towards renewables started in 2009 with the first commercial windfarm project. With a capacity of 50 MW, the Salkhit wind farm near the capital, Ulaanbaatar, was constructed with financing of USD 47.5 million from the European Bank of Regional Development (EBRD), an amount matched by FMO, the Dutch development bank.

The 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) were held in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan. Athletes from 65 delegations showcased their skills in 21 sports. Mongolian athletes took five golds, 15 silvers and 10 bronzes from the games.

The Golden Eagle Festival has been the largest gathering of eagle hunters and their eagles in the world since it started in 1999 with 70 eagle hunters participating in this event. It has also been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Event. The festival starts with display of eagles and hunters, and then goes into the events of eagles displaying their talents.

The top fourteen participants of the Miss Mongolia national beauty contest will walk the catwalk at tomorrow’s Fashion Show. More than fifty young ladies from the nine districts of the capital, Ulaanbaatar, and all twenty one provinces of Mongolia have participated in the beauty contest. The judges have selected the “Top 14” participants for the final competition.
