Chinggis Bond: PM to make first repayment

In 2018, Mongolia is to repay USD 500 million of its Chinggis Bond debt. Tomorrow, 5 January at 10:00 am. Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh, will make the first bond payment transfer in person.

Ulaanbaatar to build new railway station

According to an Ulaanbaatar Railway official, the joint stock company is planning build a new station on site of the ‘Thousand Cars’ Auto Market. The site was returned to Ulaanbaatar Railway ownership after the cars were forcibly removed on Wednesday with the help of the police.

Railway workers oppose income tax increase

The Mongolian Rail Workers’ Trade Union is protesting against the increased tax rate on personal income that came into effect on 1 January 2018. Under the three-year-arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the government agreed to increase the income tax rate of individuals with a monthly salary of more than MNT1.5 million incrementally from 15, 20, and 25 percent.

The head of the Erdenet Mining Corporation (EMC) trade union spoke on Wednesday (3 January) regarding the increase of personal income tax which came into effect starting from 1 January, 2018.

Traders clash with police at ‘Thousand Cars’ Auto Market

Traders from the ‘Thousand Cars’ Auto Market clashed with the police on Wednesday near Ulaanbaatar railway station. A large number of protesting auto-traders were arrested during the incident which took place ahead of the planned clearing of the site.
