New Mongolian PM appoints his Cabinet

Mongolian lawmakers on June 13 confirmed former top diplomat G.Zandanshatar as the country’s new prime minister, after his predecessor resigned following weeks of anti-corruption protests. G.Zandanshatar – also from L.Oyun-Erdene’s ruling Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) – was elected as his replacement in the early hours of June 13, with 108 out of 117 present voting in favour.

New Prime Minister of Mongolia G.Zandanshatar retained a third of the previous government on June 17, 2025.

He explained this by the goals of continuing mega-projects. He also said that the principle of including representatives of the party with seats in parliament in the government was adopted.

After the meeting of the Democratic Party group, the parliamentary session began. Prime Minister G.Zandanshatar introduced the ministers who will be part of his cabinet.

“The geopolitical situation is becoming increasingly complex. The government decided to immediately begin work and maintain the continuity of state policy. Therefore, a third of the previous government is retained,” G.Zandanshatar said.
