The World Speed Reading Championship 2023 was held in Sanya, China, as a live-only competition. B.Baasandorj, a senior coach at the Mongolian Academy of Intellectuals and an international judge of memory sports, achieved a silver medal in the World Speed Reading Championship. This event is part of the annual Tony Buzan Speed-Reading Championships, which focus on testing reading speed combined with comprehension.
Kh.Khatanbaatar, the founder of the Mongolian Academy of Intellectuals, participated in his first international speed reading competition in 2008, held in Turkey. He won a silver medal at this event, marking Mongolia’s debut in competitive mind sports on the global stage.
The first World Mind Championship, initiated by Tony Buzan, was held in London in 1998 as part of his efforts to popularize mental sports like mind mapping and memory techniques. However, the event did not take place annually in its early years. It experienced a hiatus and was later revived alongside other mental sports championships. Since 2016, the competition has been organized annually, showcasing disciplines like speed reading and mind mapping, often under the branding of “Tony Buzan Championships”.
