Today, The Emergency Commission of the capital city has presented the flood risk assessment of Ulaanbaatar.

-During the flood risk assessment of Ulaanbaatar city, Bayanzurh, Chingeltei, Songinohairkhan and Sukhbaatar districts were found to be at the highest risk. Baganuur district has been assessed as high risk while Khan-Uul, Bayangol dictricts are medium risk, Bagakhangai, Nalaikh districts are low risk. The average quality assessment score corresponding to the level of flood danger in Ulaanbaatar city is 3.75. It means, flood risk is high.

3,947 properties are very likely to be affected by melt water spate and floods.

The population of Ulaanbaatar is increasing by 40,000 per year, and 75 percent of them are migrating from rural areas. People from rural areas are more likely to be exposed to the risk of floods as they settle along riverbeds, ravines, and gullies.

The flood prevention campaign will continue until May. As part of this campaign, notice sheets were sent to 464 households that are likely to be affected by flood risk. Of these, 150 households are in Bayanzurkh district, 139 in Chingeltei district, 135 in Songinohairkhan district, and 40 in Sukhbaatar district.
