On Monday (6 February), a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey and Syria, killing more than 4,000 people.
President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh sent a message of condolence to the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. “At this distressing time, the people of Mongolia grieve with the people of Turkey for loss of precious human lives, and we wholeheartedly believe that the Republic of Turkey will be able to overcome the losses and damages within a short time” said in the condolence.
The Mongolian Government is sending a rescue team of 35 doctors and nurses as well as humanitarian assistance to Turkey. Separately, the country of 3.4 million has offered today (7 February) a humanitarian assistance to Syria.
There are some 6,000 Mongolian citizens living in Turkey, 290 of them are students, 150 are children aged 0-16, and the rest are working.
