According to the National Center for Communicable Diseases, Omicron cases currently account for 60-70 percent of new daily infections in Mongolia.
The country of 364 million reported its first imported and local Omicron cases last week, which indicates the beginning of a fourth wave of the pandemic.
Daily tally of Covid-19 surpassed 2000 last week after confirming the local omicron cases.
So far, 71.9 percent of the country’s population has received two COVID-19 vaccine doses, while 50.5 percent of people aged over 18 have received a third dose.
Since 7 January, a fourth dose has been administered on a voluntary basis and vaccination rate reached to 2.9 percent.
