Today (1 March), the Mongolian People’s Party, the oldest political party in Mongolia is celebrating its 100th anniversary of foundation. Entitled ‘Patriotic Day’, the party has been celebrating its anniversary since 2004.
Established by D.Sukhbaatar in 1921, the political party divided in 2010 after changing its name from the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party to simply the Mongolian People’s Party. Since then, former prime-minister and president, N.Enkhbayar has led the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party. Subsequently, the anniversary day has been celebrated separately by two parties. However, this year, two political parties united for the 100th anniversary.
Today, N.Enkhbayar, leader of MPRP and U.Khurelsukh, leader of MPP as well as Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene and G.Zandanshatar, Speaker of Parliament has jointly paid respect to monuments of D.Sukhbaatar, founding member of the Mongolian People’s Party.
