The National Emergency Commission of Mongolia has extended quarantine measures until 30 June. These are not too tough: currently, in Ulaanbaatar, food services such as restaurants, cafes and supermarkets are open until 10.00 p.m. under a decision by the city mayor. However, many services such as movie theatres, museum, libraries, bars, concert halls and hotels still remain closed.
As of today, Mongolia has 204 confirmed cases of coronavirus; all of them imported – in other words, the country of three million does not have any local transmissions of COVID-19. Therefore, Mongolian businesses have demanded to ease lockdown measures and to open services.
Earlier today, officials from the Ulaanbaatar City Administration met to consider opening some services and extending hours of business.
