The Mongolian Government decided today (21 May) to move its air border checking from the old Buyant-Ukhaa airport to the new Chinggis Khaan international airport which had just been constructed in Khushig Valley, to the south of the capital, Ulaanbaatar. This will come into effect from 1 July. The decision prompts speculations of the opening of the new international airport.
With the new international airport in Khushig Valley coming into operation this year, the national capacity for air traffic is expected to increase by over 40 percent. This will help enable Mongolia to fulfill its action plan to receive one million tourists.
