By decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a Mongolian woman has been awarded the Order of Friendship for her contribution in delivering assistance to Soviet soldiers during World War II. Nicknamed ‘Front’, S.Tsegmid is one of four Mongolians, three of whom are war veterans, who are being awarded by Vladimir Putin on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Victory Day. The medal was delivered by the Russian Ambassador to Mongolia last week.
S.Tsegmid was 19 years-old when she became involved in delivering supplies from the Mongolian people to the Sverdlovsk Front of Soviet Army. She stayed at the front for 7-8 days with 30 Mongolian representatives distributing deels, leather items, meat and food supplies to the Soviet soldiers.
