Global airlines stand to lose USD 252 billion in sales and 38 percent of transportation in 2020 as the coronavirus continues to spread, according to the International Air Transport Association.
Mongolia is not exempt as civil air transportation suffers financial instability and the loss of navigation revenue. In Mongolia, over 600 flights (568 international and 55 local) have been cancelled from 15 February until 30 April due to the decision of the National Emergency Commission (NEC) in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
However, MIAT, the Mongolian national carrier in cooperation with the NEC has conducted 13 charter flights to five countries and has evacuated 1938 people.
