Mongolia exported some 90,000 tons of coal to China in March, the Mongolian Customs General Administration (MCGA) said on Thursday (2 April). The country resumed exporting coal to China in mid-March after a halt beginning 10 February due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mongolia has also resumed the export of other mining products including copper concentrates and iron ores to China. Here is a summary of export volumes since the renewal of shipments:

• Since 28 March, 12.9 thousand tonnes of coal through the Shiveekhuren Border Crossing.
• Since 3 March, 42.9 thousand tonnes of  coal and 9.9 thousand tonnes of iron ore through the Zamyn-Uud Border Crossing.
• Since 21 March, 31.9 thousand tonnes  of coal and 12.6 thousand tonnes of copper concentrates through the Gashuun-Sukhait Border Crossing.
• Since 18 March, 12.2 million tonnes of various goods through the Altanbulag Border Crossing.
• Since 26 March, 2.3 thousand tonnes of coal and 973.6 tonnes of iron ore through the Khangi Border Crossing.
