Kh.Battulga, President of Mongolia called yesterday (25 March) to postpone the upcoming parliamentary elections. The President announced a six-point proposal for preparing the Mongolian people for a possible recession because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, Kh.Battulga called upon the government to cut all possible spending in order to save money to fight both the COVID-19 outbreak and the coming recession. He also requested that the 2020 State Budget be amended.
The parliamentary election is scheduled on 24 June. Mongolia’s parliament, the State Great Khural, is unicameral, consisting of 76 lawmakers with a four-year term.
