The National Emergency Commission decided today (10 March) to cancel flights with Russia, Turkey and Kazakhstan until 28 March following the confirmation that a French national has been confirmed coronavirus infection in the country. The Frenchman arrived in Mongolia by plane via Moscow on 2 March; he subsequently developed a fever from March 7. Having tested positive for the preliminary test for COVID-19, he has been put under isolation in Dornogobi province.
As we have reported, he ignored the self-quarantine instruction issued at the airport and may have come into direct contact with at least 500 people.
Previously, Mongolia cancelled flights with South Korea, China, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan in late February.
