Irresponsible Frenchman brings COVID-19 to Mongolia

A 56-year-old French man has been confirmed today (10 March) as having the coronavirus infection. He works in Badrakh Energy Company, (Areva Mines changed name in 2018) in the Dornogobi Province.

The man arrived in Ulaanbaatar on flight from Moscow on 2 March after staying France for 10 days. At Chinggis Khaan international airport, he was told to quarantine himself for 14 days as having fever. Unfortunately, the man totally ignored the instruction. He stayed at Bayangol Hotel in the centre of Ulaanbaatar, ate lunches at KFC, Arig Ramen and Veranda restaurants as well as held meeting with co-workers in the ICC Tower. He then travelled to Dornogobi Province by train on 6 March. Mongolian law enforcement officers have discovered 120 people (40 in UB) who had direct contact with the French man and has quarantined them. Of course, there may be many more. An emergency team from the National Centre of Communicative Disease is now working in Dornogobi province.
