Mongolia is currently exporting coal through two main border crossings with China; others have been closed in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus, which has hit over 20 countries. At the Gashuun Sukhait Border Crossing, each day 110-120 coal trucks are entering China; this represents a nine to tenfold decrease!
At Shivee Khuren, another Mongolian border crossing, only 50-60 coal trucks are entering to China per day; a decrease of 9-10 times.
According to data from the Mongolian Customs Administration: the country earned 169.2 million U.S. dollars from coal exports to China in January 2020.
