The construction of a National Burns Centre in Mongolia began in 2013, however, it has still has not been completed due to financing difficulties. The State Specialized Inspection Authority prohibited use of their original building, built in 1957, following an inspection eight years ago. The Mongolian National Burns Centre moved to the first floor of the National Trauma and Orthopedic Research Centre in 2014 after temporary accommodation at the Munguun Guur (Silver Bridge) Hospital with a MNT 28 million of monthly rent fee.

The construction of the National Burns Centre finally resumed in 2017 thanks to a non-refundable aid package of USD 8 million by the Government of Kuwait. Mongolia planned to use USD 6.8 million of the Kuwaiti money for construction of the centre and USD 1.2 million for buying equipment.  Prior to this, the Mongolian Government spent MNT 3.8 billion on constructing the centre.

The new building of National Burns Center consists of three blocks; A Block for offices, consultation and examination rooms, C Block for a morgue – these two are being constructed by Tsast Construction; B Block, for ambulances and A&E, is being constructed by the Nutgiin Zam Company. The construction of the centre is now 60-80 percent complete.
