Three new HIV cases have been recorded in Mongolia during November; these bring the number of HIV carriers and AIDS sufferers to 284.
To date, 44 people registered with HIV/AIDS have died – 32 of them of AIDS. The first HIV case in Mongolia was recorded in 1992.
The disease is transmitted by sexual contact; about 81.2 percent of the HIV-infected are men – mostly, from the LGBT community. The age of HIV-infected people ranges from 15 to 39.
