Mongolia has set a goal of exporting 42 million tonnes of coal by the endof 2019 in order to generate MNT 1.3 trillion in export revenue. As of 1November, Mongolia has exported a total of 32.3 million tonnes of coal,reports the Customs Administration. Therefore, the country still needs toexport an additional 9.7 million tonnes within the next two months tomeet the target. In the first ten months of 2019, Mongolia exported coal worth USD 2.75billion; which was an increase of USD 309.2 million or 1.4 million tonneson the same period in 2018. Last year, the average sales price of coal was USD 78.8 per ton; thisrose to USD 85.0 per ton in 2019. Mongolia has one main export market – China; a whopping 98.2 percentof the coal goes there.
