The first assembly of women officers was held at the Central Cultural Palace in Ulaanbaatar on 20 September. Over 1300 women officers from the Mongolian Defence Ministry, the General Authority for Border Protection, the National Emergency Management Agency, the National Police Agency, the General Executive Agency of Court Decision, the General Intelligence Agency, the National Institute of Forensic Science and the University of Internal Affairs all participated in the event.
Today, 17 percent of women officers work in the army, 9.8 percent in the border guards, 19 percent in NEMA, 14 percent in the police and 28.6 percent for the enforcement of court-decisions.
A total of 645 women officers have participated in UN peacekeeping operations since Mongolia began sending troops to the world’s conflict zones.
Mongolia leads in Asia with the ration of women police officers to men.
