Football is hardly the most popular sport in Mongolia – but that may start to change after the country has appearance in the second round of World Cup qualifying.

Tajikistan has become the first team to defeat Mongolia in a World Cup qualifying match in Ulaanbaatar since 21 October 2007, when North Korea won 4-1. Mongolia has had won four consecutive World Cup qualifying matches at home without conceding any goals before today.
