Asian folklore artists have gathered in the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar to participate in the Asian Folklore Championships. The competition took place from 12-15 June. More than 200 folklore artists from over 12 Asian countries, including China, India, Malaysia, South Korea and Kazakhstan travelled to Mongolia for the event.

The Dornod Theatre won the Grand Prix at the competition followed by South Korean artists who took second place; China’s Inner Mongolia came third. The winners of first three places were awarded from a cash pool of EUR 7000 in cash. The participants competed in five categories of folklore, including folk songs and folk dances.

The certified judges from the World Association of Folklore Festivals made up the jury.

The awards ceremony was held on Sukhbaatar Square, in the centre of Ulaanbaatar on 15 June at 7.00 p.m.
