Mongolian-born sumo superstar D.Davaajargal, better known as Yokozuna Hakuho, has decided to become a Japanese citizen. In order to do so, he must first reject his Mongolian citizenship. News of the decision was announced via official sources.

Yokozuna Hakuho extended his career championship haul to 42 in March after winning the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament, the final tourney of Japan’s Heisei era, with a record 15th undefeated run.

Regarding his decision to become a Japanese citizen, his mother U.Tamir said that it was all just a matter of time. Hakuho already stated his intentions during the ‘100 Individuals’ television show.

Previously, two Mongolian-born sumo wrestlers, namely; Kyukutenzan B.Enkhbat, Asasekiryu B.Dashnyam have become Japanese citizens.
