Ulaanbaatar is to host the country’s Paragliding Championships. This exciting event will be held at Khurkhree on the Bogd Khan Mountain on February 16-17. The competition is one of many interesting events to be organised during the Ulaanbaatar Winter Festival.
Having been first introduced to Mongolia in 1996, the adventurous sport of paragliding rapidly began to develop from 2013 onwards. In recent years, athletes from the hang gliding and paragliding clubs of Mongolia have successfully participated in international championships.
Paragliding is the recreational and competitive adventure sport of flying paragliders: lightweight, free-flying, foot-launched glider aircraft with no rigid primary structure. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a fabric wing.
