Based on the famous painting ‘A day in Mongolia’, a version made in chalcedony is on display at a Mongolian Gemstones Exhibition in the National Dinosaur Museum in Ulaanbaatar. The carving was crafted by Ts.Luvsandash and made from dark green chalcedony, discovered in the Bogd Soum of Uvurkhangai Province.
In the exhibition hall, a jade carving of Mongolia’s most famous dinosaur – Bataar – made from jade is attracting much interest. This remarkable object is 144 cm long, 56 cm tall and 17 cm wide. There is also a second impressive prehistoric creature carved from chalcedony. The gemstone dinosaurs are the work of Ts.Enkhiinyesunbaatar. In addition, visitors can see carved turtles, entitled ‘Kings Family’ made of mocha stone. The turtles weigh100 kg and were crafted by L.Bayanmunkh.
