The State General Prosecutor’s Office of Mongolia has announced that the fixed period for the S.Zorig murder case has expired. This means that the case will now be closed without discovering who ordered the killing of one of this highly influential politician. For twenty years, the murder of S.Zorig, who was the Mongolian Minister of Infrastructure and one of the heroes of the country’s peaceful transition to democracy, has been veiled in mystery and speculation of a cover up at the highest level. Last year, Ts.Amgalanbaatar, B.Sodnomdarjaa and T.Chimgee were sentenced to 24-25 years imprisonment for brutally murdering S.Zorig on 2 October 1998 at his home in the Zaisan district of Ulaanbaatar, but who was the paymaster?
Earlier today (1 November), MP J.Batzandan criticized the ruling Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) for not fulfilling their election promise to find and reveal the name of the person behind the killing of S.Zorig. He said, the party has deceived and brainwashed the Mongolian people.
