A nine-year-old Mongolian boy was killed during an authorized horse race in August. The incident took place in the Tumentsogt soum of Sukhbaatar province on the sidelines of a shamanistic mountain worship ceremony. In Mongolia, such ceremonies, which take place at certain times of the year, are often accompanied by traditional games. According to the provincial governor, B.Amaraa, the locals organized the mountain worship horse race without letting officials know. The child jockeys did not wear protective helmets, knee and elbow pads, which for several years have been required by law in Mongolia.

Unfortunately, the parents of the boy told the police that they did not have any complaints. The case is being now investigated by local police department.
