The State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet will open its 56th season with the The Classics of the world and Mongolia on 7 October. ‘Carmen’ by G.Bizet on 13 October and ‘Swan Lake’ by Tchaikovsky on 14 October are scheduled to be staged.
On the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the theatre, a historical exhibition of artists and performances of all time will be presented. The theatre is preparing for the performances and events for children and young people. For example, ‘Prince Igor’ by A.Borodin, ‘La Bayadere’ by L.Minkus, an opera for children ‘Will the bear sing?’ by D.Erdenebaatar and ‘Doctor Aibolit’ will be stated in old and new versions.
The State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet was established on 30 December, 1950. At that time it was the first classical theatre not only in Mongolia, but also in Asia.
