Speaker of Parliament M.Enkhbold received South Korean Ambassador to Mongolia H.E.Jeong Jae-nam on 20 June. During the meeting Ambassador Jeong proposed to the Speaker that the barriers in the air transport sector be reduced in order to boost the tourism sector and people-to-people relations, adding that annually around 70000 Koreans visit Mongolia. He said, “I believe that the number of Korean tourists will reach hundreds of thousands. However, the main barrier is the limited number of existing flights and the expensive cost of tickets. Therefore, I request Mr M.Enkhbold to pay special attention to this matter,” Ambassador Jeong Jae-nam said.
In response, Speaker M.Enkhbold asked Ambassador Jeong to pay attention to creating conditions for Mongolians to travel without a visa. Ambassador Jeong Jae-nam said that he will make efforts to enable Mongolians to travel to the Republic of Korea without a visa, but noted that the issue will not be resolved easily and will have to go through many stages.
