An 11 year-old boy has died after a crossbar fell on his head while he was playing football in the a school playground. The incident took place on 18 June at Ulaanbaatar’s 79th School. Following the tragic accident, Sh.Bolor-Erdene, the director of the school, said, the victim was child from ‘risky’ family whose mother left home and father is alcoholic.
Earlier today, U.Khurelsukh, Prime Minister of Mongolia apologised to family of the young boy during a session of cabinet. U.Khurelsukh has tasked schools with preventing such accidents in future and ensuring children’s safety is paramount in and outside the buildings.
Sh.Bolor-Erdene faces punishment for his total lack of commitment and direct responsibility for the accident. The football facilities – including the goal posts – were constructed in 2012 and paid for by Bayanzurkh District Administration.
