Following heavy rains in some parts of Mongolia, a total of 400 people have been left destitute by the flash floods which struck Bulgan Province on 14 June. One child was killed – the loss of life could have been far higher – and many families left homeless. In total, 18 gers (yurts), 67 enclosure-fences and 21 houses have been swept away in the flash floods.
P.Itgelbayar, Mayor of Khutag-Undur Soum in Bulgan Province reported that the economic damage has been estimated at MNT 368 million. Currently, removing the thick layer of mud and reconstruction are underway.
