The mother of one of the children of secondary school No.53 in Bayanzurkh who suffered from food poisoning has said the company that supplied the product that is blamed for the infection gave MNT 50,000 to MNT70,000 to the parents of the afflicted children but “did not ask us not to make complaints”. All the children are now back in school.
Milk products with honey, manufactured by MonMilk Company, have been identified as the source of infection. B.Tsend-Ayush, mother of 1B grade student M.Erdeneburen, told media on Wednesday that they did not think of complaining as no child was taken seriously ill. ”If the illness had been serious, we would’ve made complaints and addressed the court whether we were given the money or not,” she said.
Parents now taste the items on the lunch menu every day. Packaged food is less common and the children often get tea and hot milk with rice. Many parents feel the lunch program must not be stopped as “We are not always able to feed our children in the morning and give them money to buy food. This they use to buy candies and Chinese dried fruit. So, the lunch program is necessary”.
The school has canceled the contract with MonMilk.
