Earlier today, the Mongolian Cabinet approved guidelines for developing tourism and cross-border zones. As a priority, Mongolia will construct new airports in the South Gobi, Khuvsgul, Uvurkhangai, Khovd and Uvs Provinces.
The government has declared a target of receiving one million tourists by 2020 and becoming tourism centre of East Asia.

Does the South Gobi really need another airport to promote tourism? There are several airports in South Gobi, most of which are barely utilized. Dalanzadgad, Tsogt-tsetsii, Ovoot, etc.
