Mongolian ‘seven summiteer’ B.Gangaamaa has started preparation for her next climb. She is planning to conquer K2, the second highest mountain in the world, between 25 July and 5 August.

B.Gangaamaa tried to ascent the K2 summit in August 2013 along with mountaineers from Greece, New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland and Nepal over a gruelling two month period. At that time, 67 climbers started the climb, but only seven reached the peak. K2 – ‘killer mountain’, lived up to its name – 22 mountaineers lost their lives during the process. With an elevation of 8611 meters above sea level, K2, level has long since been called the ‘killer’ mountain and has the second-highest fatality rate among the eight-thousands. Last year, mountaineer G.Usukhbayar also failed to conquer K2.

In 2011 B.Gangaamaa became the first Mongolian woman to conquer Mount Everest. The Seven Summits achievement of B.Gangaamaa is as follows:

 In 2010 – Mount Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe (5642 m)

In 2011 – Mount Everest, the highest mountain in Asia (8848 m)

In 2012 – Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa (5895 m)

In 2015 – Mount Denali (previously known as Mt Mac Kinley), the highest mountain peak in North America (6194 m)

In 2016 – Aconcagua, the highest mountain in South America (6962 m)

In 2016 – Carstensz Pyramid, the highest mountain in Australia (4884 m)

In 2016 – Vinson Massif, the highest peak in Antarctica (4897 m).
