Mongolian Foreign Minister D.Tsogtbaatar received H.E.Jong Jae Nam, Seoul’s newly appointed ambassador to Ulaanbaatar earlier today (7 June). The Foreign Minister noted that cooperation is developing on all sectors under the Comprehensive Partnership Relationship between Mongolia and South Korea. D.Tsogtbaatar went on to say that he is ready to work closely with Ambassador Jong Jae Nam in expanding the scope of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, increasing South Korean investment and facilitating travel conditions.
The ambassador was also asked for support in the urgent implementation of a USD 500 million-worth soft loan issued by the S.Korean Government; this is earmarked for a project on reducing air pollution in Ulaanbaatar.
The meeting was concluded by Ambassador Jong Jae Nam expressing his appreciation for Mongolia’s efforts to ensure regional stability in Northeast Asia and pledging to take active part in the measures of the ‘Ulaanbaatar Dialogue’ Initiative on Northeast Asian Security. The 2018 session of the ‘Dialogue’ is scheduled to be held in the Mongolian capital next week on 14-15 June, and over 150 representatives from countries in the region are expected to attend. The event will be doubtless be interesting as it comes in the week of the US – N.Korea Summit.
