A debate on the amendment of the Law of the Family was held at the State Palace of Mongolia to coincide with the International Day of Families, which is observed globally on 15 May every year. This special day was initiated by the UN General Assembly in 1993.

The Mongolian version of this day is  marked as ‘Family and Equal Society’. The Law of the Family was first approved in 1999 and has been amended five times.
