Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Ts.Tsogzolmaa, has officially requested the mayor of Ulaanbaatar city and the provincial governors to ban the collection of money from school children and students, required for marking any celebrations, awarding education certificates, celebrating graduations and preventing natural disasters such as a forest fires. In turn, schools and teachers are banned from accepting payments, or donations from pupils unless specified by Mongolian laws.
In addition, the education minister has regulated to ban the following:
School teachers to provide paid homework to pupils for graduation exams and general entrance exams as well as purchasing textbooks.
To collect money from for celebrating teachers’ birthdays, which contravenes the parents union’s initiative.
To organise trips and vacations to the countryside, riversides, tourist camps and hotels as well as to use alcoholic beverages.
